Sanjay, who was reportedly in a relationship with a 19-year-old woman from Ketchilapuram in Thoothukudi district. Both belonged to a Scheduled Caste community.The woman’s family was opposed to their relationship, and she was sent to stay at her uncle’s (father’s brother) house at Subramaniyapuram in Kovilpatti. She learnt that Sanjay was leaving for Chennai, and she informed her family about it.
