ABBYY gives old-school OCR a job in the AI pipeline
ABBYY has released FineParser, a self-hosted OCR tool that runs on CPU-powered Docker containers to convert documents into structured text for AI pipelines. The software preserves document layout, including tables and columns, to provide deterministic input for large language models. A free tier is available for one year, while enterprise options support fully offline deployments and integration into broader production workflows.
- ▪FineParser operates in a CPU-powered Docker container without requiring a GPU.
- ▪The tool supports more than 200 languages and can process handwritten text.
- ▪Output is available in plain text, JSON, or DocLang formats via a REST API.
- ▪ABBYY offers a free tier of 1,000 pages per month for one year.
- ▪Fully offline deployment requires an Enterprise plan connected to a license server.
