It took Apple over a decade since the feature's inception to be able to roll it out to the market, because it had to comply with local banking regulations. For now, however, the feature only supports Visa and MasterCard credit cards issued by Axis Bank. It still doesn't work with cards issued by other banks in the country, such as the State Bank of India and HDFC Bank. And as TechCrunch notes, it doesn't support India's local credit card network RuPay.
