Austrian pleads guilty to ISIL-planned attack on Taylor Swift concert
An Austrian man, Beran A, has pleaded guilty to planning an ISIL-inspired attack on a Taylor Swift concert in Vienna in August 2024, which led to the cancellation of three tour dates. He also admitted to conspiring in failed attack plans in Dubai, Istanbul, and Mecca alongside two associates. Beran A told the court he experienced panic attacks that prevented him from carrying out the attack in Dubai. The trial, set to conclude by May 28, 2026, could result in a 10 to 20-year prison sentence if he is convicted on all terrorism-related charges.
