A seven-year-old boy died of snake bite at Oothupatti village in Manapparai taluk in the district on Saturday evening. Police gave the name of the deceased as R. Abinesh who was a Class III student at the panchayat union middle school at Oothupatti. Police sources said Abinesh was playing with his sibling near his house when he was bitten by a snake. The boy was immediately taken to a private hospital and then referred to the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital in Tiruchi. The doctor who examined the boy declared him dead. The Puthanatham police have registered a case.
