Conservancy workers cleaning after TVK event sparks controversy

A video showing Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) conservancy workers of Urbaser Sumeet allegedly being made to collect used banana leaves after an event organised by TVK functionaries has sparked a controversy on social media.The incident took place during the inauguration of Maduravoyal MLA Revanth Charan’s office.According to sources, meals were served to TVK members at the Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board’s pumping station in Valasaravakkam Zone, where the workers were allegedly asked to clean up the used banana leaves. “By then, the GCC and Urbaser Sumeet authorities had left the premises for other duties, so they could not supervise this,” sources said.Valasaravakkam Ward Committee Chairperson V.
