Former Shivamogga MLA H.M. Chandrashekharappa passed away in a private hospital in Bengaluru on Sunday. He was 78. He is survived by two sons. He had been suffering from age-related health issues.Mr. Chandrashekharappa was elected to the State Assembly from Shivamogga on a Congress ticket in 1999, defeating K.S. Eshwarappa of the BJP. He also served as vice-president of the Akhila Bharata Veerashaiva Mahasabha. In recent years, he had formed a forum of former legislators and served as its president.According to family sources, the last rites will be held at the family’s farm in Hosahalli, near Shivamogga, on Monday.
