The sub-$700 laptop market is still heating up, despite industry pressures that are pushing prices up, even for early contenders in the space. HP's new OmniBook 5 14 AI PC starts at just $699.99 and promises 42 hours of battery life for video streaming, a high-resolution OLED display, and a lightweight, attractive design aimed at students and young professionals. This is a cheaper version of the Snapdragon X Plus OmniBook 5 14 we reviewed at the start of this year. We lauded its lightweight design and competitive pricing, but its battery life (34 hours and 48 minutes) truly blew us away, beating any conventional laptop we've tested in years. If the new OmniBook makes good on its claims, it could beat those stellar results by several hours.
