India opens ₹15,000 crore race to build AMCA stealth fighter
India has initiated a ₹15,000 crore project to develop the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA), a fifth-generation multirole fighter jet. Three bidders have been shortlisted for the production of five prototypes, with the first prototype expected by early 2027. The AMCA aims to compete with advanced stealth fighters globally and will eventually replace the Su-30 MKI fighters in the Indian Air Force.
