Linux 7.2's Open-Source Nouveau Driver To Finally Support The NVIDIA GA100
Linux 7.2 will include support for the NVIDIA GA100 in its Open-Source Nouveau driver. This update follows NVIDIA's earlier release of GA100 support patches, which utilized the GPU System Processor. While the kernel driver is ready, additional work is needed on the user-space side to fully utilize the GA100 with an open-source software stack.
- ▪The NVIDIA GA100 will be supported in the upcoming Linux 7.2 release.
- ▪This support comes after NVIDIA provided patches for the Nouveau driver.
- ▪The GA100 requires specialized handling due to its compute-only nature.
