Moldova has entered the decisive phase of the work required for EU accession, with the first negotiation “cluster” now open in Luxembourg. The move marks the formal start of the most demanding stage of the accession process – a step Chisinau had been awaiting for more than a year. The first cluster of EU-Moldova negotiation chapters, known as “Fundamentals”, covers areas such as rule of law, the functioning of democratic institutions, public administration reform, the judiciary and fundamental rights.
