Srinath on Sunday distributed satellite phones to 74 fishermen from Tharuvaikulam in the district.Addressing the fishermen, Mr. Srinath said that each satellite phone along with sim card cost ₹1,34,166, and the government provided 40% subsidy on the total cost. While fishermen earlier ventured up to 300 nautical miles into the sea, they now travelled 1,000 nautical miles for deep sea fishing.
