On Saturday (May 16, 2026) night, Tharun Kumar was riding his two wheeler on the Jawaharlal Nehru Salai and as he was proceeding to take a left turn towards Kali Amman Koil street, a garbage truck operating for the Koyambedu Market Maintenance Committee hit him. Tharun Kumar was killed on the spot. Koyambedu traffic Investigation police sent the body to Government Kilpauk Medical college hospital for postmortem. The police have arrested the driver and are investigating.
