Nearly 10,000 acres of Utah public land could host 456 nuclear reactors — enough power for 7-8 million homes, but none of them will get any of that power
Valar Atomics has proposed Project Beehive, a massive nuclear facility on over 9,000 acres of federal land near Price, Utah. The campus would host 456 modular reactors capable of generating 9.6GW, which is sufficient to power 7 to 8 million homes. However, the entire energy output is intended for data centers rather than residential use in Utah.
- ▪Valar Atomics filed a proposal to place 456 nuclear reactors on more than 9,000 acres of federal land around Price, Utah.
- ▪The proposed 9.6GW capacity is 2.4 times the average power generation of the entire state of Utah today.
- ▪Each of the 456 modular units is designed to generate 25MW, allowing the site to be built in stages as computing demand increases.
- ▪The generated power is exclusively allocated to data centers, leaving none of the energy for the approximately 1.3 million homes in Utah.
