Remote Qld Indigenous community's only drug and alcohol rehab centre closes
Mimosa Creek Healing Centre, which opened in 2012 in the community south-west of Rockhampton, was run by not-for-profit organisation Central Queensland Indigenous Development (CQID). It offered residential rehabilitation for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men recovering from drug and alcohol abuse, among other community services. In March, during a trustee meeting, the Woorabinda Aboriginal Shire Council opted to terminate CQID's lease for the centre.
