Last season Rolf Ekroth’s plans to finally take his collection on the road from Finland to France were foiled; this spring he was determined to go big or go home. “From a business side we need to grow, we need to get sales, we need to be more present where things happen,” Ekroth said on a Zoom. But playing safe was not in the cards for this former professional poker player. “Paris feels like it’s serious and then I made a very playful collection,” said the designer who also planned a rager, hosting an after-party rave at the Mia Mao club (capacity about 2,500) where the show was presented.The collection was largely based around Ekroth’s ravenous appetite for pick-and-mix candy—sour skulls, Salmiak (salty) licorice, chewy gummy bears, and the like.
