Whether it’s a presidential, gubernatorial, or Senate election, the narrative established early on is that Texas is in play, and then the Republican wins handily. In 2020, NBC News declared Texas a “toss-up” state. In 2024, some polls claimed Kamala Harris was in striking distance of President Donald Trump… and then he won by roughly 14 points.
