The administrative state just took a major hit
The Supreme Court’s decision in Trump v. Slaughter is a major victory for constitutional government. By restoring the president’s authority over the executive branch and overruling what remained of the mistaken Humphrey’s Executor precedent, the justices took an important step toward democratic accountability. The decision also opens a path for President Trump and future administrations to rein in the administrative state. Americans should celebrate this ruling as a victory for self-government.
