For the 10-year-old boy who had broken his ankle, the treatment was too late and too costly to prevent a lifelong limp. Forty years later, that boy, Desh Bandhu Gupta (DBG), now founder of the pharmaceutical company Lupin, took three-and-a-half hours to cover the 5,800 km from London to New York on the Concorde.
