This self-hosted e-ink dashboard designer makes creating ESP32 and Pi projects a lot easier
Tesserae is an open-source, self‑hosted dashboard designer that simplifies creating custom e‑ink displays for devices such as ESP32 and Raspberry Pi. The tool renders tile‑based dashboards headlessly and delivers updates to panels via MQTT or HTTP without requiring a cloud service. It has been demonstrated in a Seeed reTerminal project that shows train schedules, weather forecasts, and maps.
- ▪Tesserae is released under the AGPL‑3.0 license and runs without a SaaS component, only optional outbound contacts for update checks and analytics.
- ▪The dashboard creator allows users to compose tile‑based layouts in a browser and render them headlessly for e‑ink panels.
- ▪A community member, xDaftTurtle, used Tesserae on a Seeed reTerminal with a 1200×1600 e‑ink display to present local train times, weather, and maps.
- ▪Supported hardware includes a range of ESP32 and Raspberry Pi devices, making the solution versatile for DIY electronics projects.
