In a tragic incident, three boys drowned in a pond located in a forested area at Naranagepalle village of Roddam mandal in Sri Sathya Sai district, on Wednesday evening.According to the police, three boys from different families, aged 7 to 12, ventured close to the water body to collect blueberries from a tree on the bank. While doing so, the trio slipped into the pond and drowned. Some farmers who heard their cries rushed to the spot, however, it was in vain. The police reached the spot and retrieved the bodies, shifting them to the government area hospital at Penukonda for postmortem.The police registered a case and took up further investigation.
