Three killed as government bus rams mini freight carrier

Three persons, including a woman, were killed and four others were injured in a road accident involving a mini freight carrier and a government bus on the Tiruchi - Madurai national highway at Thuvarankurichi in the district on Friday. Police gave the names of the deceased as Vadivel (40), Manjula (55) and Ravi (60) - all from Poolangudi near Tiruchi. Police sources said a group of seven persons were proceeding to Madurai from Poolangudi travelling in the mini freight carrier when the accident occurred. The sources said a cow suddenly came on the highway due to which the driver of the freight carrier turned the vehicle towards the left side. A Madurai-bound government bus rammed the freight carrier from behind. The freight carrier overturned in the impact of the collision.
