Tired of Audible? These are my favorite free audiobook alternatives
These two free, self-hosted tools make it easy to stream your own audiobook collection, track progress across devices, and even sync reading with listening. Credit: Pixabay If you like audiobooks but don’t want to be tied down to Audible, there are actually some good free alternatives out there. Two that I recommend are Audiobookshelf and Storyteller.

Credit: Pixabay If you like audiobooks but don’t want to be tied down to Audible, there are actually some good free alternatives out there. Two that I recommend are Audiobookshelf and Storyteller. Both are self-hosted, which means that your library stays on your own computer or server, rather than in a company’s cloud. The only catch being that you need to own your audiobooks to use them—something that isn’t possible if you’re switching directly from Audible. Both are perfectly fine Audible audiobook listening alternatives, but they have slightly unique features that set them apart from one another.
