It got multiple offers, but none were deemed acceptable. The asking price was then bumped up to $999,000. Several new offers came in, better than the first round, but none survived to closing. The asking price was then reduced by $29,100 and a buyer finally cemented a deal for $950,000. “It took a while to drop the price only because we were still getting a bunch of showings weekly, like five to 10,” said agent Réjean Marchildon. “In this market, people are in no rush, and there’s no fear that prices are going up any time soon. People can be extremely picky and just keep waiting and waiting.” The sellers also appreciated that the 100-year-old property on a busy street might need more time to find the right buyer.“We made it look much nicer – we painted it up and down and put a new roof on – but it was still dated inside,” Mr. Marchildon said. “This house is also on a busier street, but it’s factored into the price. It would be another $150,000 if it were on a side street nearby.”Open this photo in gallery:The two-storey house sold for $950,000.The Weir TeamWhat they gotThis two-storey house has three bedrooms, two full bathrooms and living and dining areas.
