The Ukkadam police on May 29, 2026, (Friday) arrested two persons for attempting to snatch a bag containing 1.1 kg of gold ornaments from an employee of a jeweller at the Coimbatore railway station on Wednesday (May 27). The police said that Tirunelveli natives Isakkipandi (23) and Ayyappan (22) were arrested from the city.The police said that Murugesan and Saravanan, who worked for jeweller Balaji of Ponnaiahrajapuram, arrived at the railway station by a train from Chennai around 6.30 a.m. on Wednesday. Mr. Balaji was waiting in a car close to the rear gate of the railway station to pick them up.As Mr. Murugesan and Mr. Saravanan came close to the car, Isakkipandi, Ayyappan and another man approached them on a two-wheeler.
