Overshadowed by the US and Israeli strike on Iran on February 28 and its fallout on the global economy, this war has now entered its fifth year. Its sole architect continues to count on exhausting both the Ukrainian military and population, who endure relentless indiscriminate bombardment, as well as on the growing fatigue of their European allies. The Russian leader had likely believed that the return of Donald Trump to the White House over a year ago would accelerate events in his favor. And not without good reason.
