Thousands of devotees witnessed the Ther procession of the utsava idols of Sri Vaidhya Veeraraghavaswamy and Sridevi and Bhoodevi Thayars held in Tiruvallur town on Tuesday.The idols were brought to the 55-feet-tall, 32-feet-wide to the chariot at 5.15 a.m. and the procession around the mada streets began by 7.30 a.m. and ended at 9.45 a.m.As the chariot, which weighs 75 tonnes, moved, the chants of Govinda Govinda rent the air. After the deities returned to the nelai, the starting point, Thirumanjanam was performed.The procession was conducted as part of the temple’s annual Chithirai Brahmotsavam that began on April 22 with the hoisting of the flag.The temple, which is one of the 108 Divyadesams of the Sri Vaishnavas, is under the control of the Sri Ahobila Mutt.
