In view of the growing traffic congestion and rapid urban development in the city, Director General of Police (DGP) Harish Kumar Gupta on Tuesday said a separate IPS officer would soon be appointed exclusively to oversee traffic-related issues in Visakhapatnam, despite the city already having a dedicated Traffic Police wing.The DGP said the move was aimed at further strengthening traffic management in the fast-developing city. He noted that the officer would focus on adopting a systematic and scientific approach to traffic regulation, congestion management and future planning in view of increasing vehicular movement and expanding urbanisation.
