TL;DR · WeSearch summary

A Mautic project lead created a custom AI assistant named Ruth AI to handle organizational queries during a three-month ordination retreat. The system was built using Google Gemini Gems, incorporating personal chat histories, internal documentation, and public resources to mimic the lead's decision-making and communication style. The initiative successfully reduced the administrative burden on the remaining team by providing immediate answers and maintaining operational continuity in the lead's absence.

The AI turned out to be the smaller part of the story. Text size A A A Using AI for business continuity In November last year I sent a slightly nervous message to our Mautic leadership team and Council. I was going to be away for three months in 2026, on retreat to be ordained, and I wanted to leave them something that could answer the questions that usually land with me. So I built a ‘Ruth AI’. It was an idea I heard in passing in the Exit Five podcast, to create an AI preset that knew everything about you to deputise in your absence.
