The K.K. Nagar police arrested a 48-year-old woman for stealing more than 60 sovereigns of gold jewellery from a businessman house on Wednesday. City police said Subramaniam, a resident of an apartment complex of P.T. Rajan Salai in K.K. Nagar, was operating a coffee powder business in Kumbakonam.Mr. Subramaniam planned to deposit his gold jewellery weighing 60 sovereigns from his house into a bank locker. When he opened his bureau on Tuesday, he was shocked to find that the gold jewellery was missing. Based on a complaint filed at the K.K. Nagar police station, a probe was launched. During the investigation, the police the police suspected his housekeeper, Kala, who confessed to the theft. The police recovered the gold jewellery and handed it over to the owner.
