A 20-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday on the charge of ‘culpable homicide not amounting to murder’, after his grandfather succumbed to injuries suffered in a scuffle over a family dispute.The arrested was identified as K. Boopathy of Hallimoyar at Thengumarahada in the Nilgiris district. The police said Boopathy came to the house of his grandfather Palani (65) at Ponnegoundenpudur near Annur on Monday night. A dispute arose between Palani and Boopathy after the former allegedly made derogatory remarks about the latter’s mother. The verbal altercation escalated into a fight, during which Boopathy allegedly assaulted his grandfather with a stick, besides pushing him. Palani fell onto a stone and suffered a serious head injury.
