A 9-year-old boy was fatally struck by a yellow school bus while crossing the street at Lee Avenue and Lorimer Street in Brooklyn's Williamsburg neighborhood on the morning of May 1, 2026. First responders found the child unconscious with severe injuries and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The 49-year-old bus driver initially left the scene but returned shortly afterward, and no charges have been filed as the investigation continues.
