Some are more confident about it than others, but all agree that the probability of an AI apocalypse, known as “p(doom),” is alarmingly high. Numbers include >10% by the end of the decade (Evan Hubinger), 50% (Emad Mostaque), 70% (Zvi Mowshowitz), and 99.5% (Eliezer Yudkowsky). As far as I can tell, these numbers do not come from equations.
