Bong Joon Ho Reunites With ‘Parasite’ Distributor Neon on First Animated Movie ‘Ally’
Bong Joon Ho is teaming up again with Neon, the distributor behind 'Parasite,' for his first animated film 'Ally,' a family adventure about a piglet squid in the South Pacific whose life changes when a sunken aircraft disrupts her world. The film, co-written with Jason Yu, blends humor and emotion while exploring themes of friendship and human interaction with marine life. Set for a 2027 theatrical release, 'Ally' marks Bong's sixth collaboration with Neon CEO Tom Quinn. The project reunites Bong with producer Seo Woo-sik and involves international financing and distribution from CJ ENM, Penture Invest, and Pathé.
