A 37-year-old brain-dead woman’s organs were harvested and donated at Government Rajaji Hospital (GRH) here on Sunday.Jeya of Karungalakudi in Madurai district was seriously injured in a road accident near Melur on May 20 while riding pillion on a motorcycle.She was admitted to Melur Government Hospital for initial treatment. Later, she was referred to the GRH for further treatment.While in treatment at the Trauma Care Centre of the GRH, she succumbed to the injuries on May 22.Following the willingness expressed by the family members of the deceased, Jaya’s organs were harvested by the doctors. Subsequently, the liver was sent to Meenakshi Hospital, Thanjavur, one kidney to Kaveri Hospital, Tiruchi, and another one to Tirunelveli Kidney Centre.
