Now, Google Wallet is adding digital ID support in India. Announced today, Google Wallet is bringing in support for Aadhaar Verifiable Credentials in India, a result of Google’s ongoing partnership with UIDAI. The “Aadhaar ID card” is a digital-first ID that is issued to contain “demographic data” including “name, address, gender, date of birth, and photograph of the Aadhaar Number Holder.” Previously, the “card” was held only in a dedicated app. Google explains a few ways you’ll be able to use these credentials right away: Advertisement - scroll for more content window.adSlotsConfig = window.adSlotsConfig || []; adSlotsConfig.push( { slotID: '/1049447/Outbrain', slotName: 'div-gpt-ad-outbrain-ad-713080', sizes: [300, 250], slotPosition: 'mid_article' } ); PVR INOX: Quickly prove your age for movies and unlock rewards. Mygate: Soon, ensure delivery and service staff entering your community are securely verified. Snabbit: Build trust in the gig economy with seamless checks for service providers in the near future. Beyond this expansion in India, Google is also making its latest passport expansion official. We spotted digital passport support for Brazil, Singaport, and Taiwan last week, and Google is now confirming that rollout. Those regions have also been added to a support page on the topic.
