The Gram Panchayats in Dakshina Kannada have so far imposed ₹1.10 lakh as fine in 53 instances for burning waste in open places and road-side disposal of waste, during the period between April 1 and April 30.As per data released by the Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat on Thursday, of the ₹1.10 lakh, ₹77,000 was collected so far, and ₹33,000 was pending. An FIR was registered in Sullia taluk against the person who failed to pay the fine. A total of ₹10,000 fine was imposed in two instances of unscientific public disposal of waste in Sullia taluk, of which only ₹5,000 was collected.
