I started debugging why two “identical” self‑hosted setups behave differently ... and fell into a rabbit hole

Trying to self host Cannery (firearms/ammo tracker) but it requires me to input my SMPT credentials in the compose yml file... I don't have a domain or an email server doesn't this defeat the purpose of "self" hosting. Any way around this?

I used the ZimaOS Photos Backup tool in the iPhone app - it says backup is done but shows fewer images in backup than on phone.
