Entre los de aire destaca el órgano, un instrumento complejo situado dentro de una caja que, en sí misma, suele ser una joya artística. De él hay noticias en la antigua Grecia (s. III a.C). Hasta el s.XIX el órgano era totalmente mecánico y manual. En este siglo y el siguiente se incorpora la neumática, la electrónica y los motores eléctricos. Entre sus componentes destacaremos los siguientes: La tubería, formada por tubos construidos usualmente con metal o madera.
