Jays’ Springer honoured to catch ceremonial pitch from Make-A-Wish foundation member
Thirteen-year-old Blake Savage, a Make-A-Wish Canada recipient from Moncton, N.B., threw the ceremonial first pitch at a Toronto Blue Jays game against the Boston Red Sox at Rogers Centre. Diagnosed with a rare heart condition, CPVT, Savage fulfilled a dream of meeting his baseball heroes, including George Springer and Trey Yesavage, who both interacted with him before the game. Springer, a Make-A-Wish ambassador, shared a personal connection to such moments, recalling a brief but impactful childhood encounter with MLB player Torii Hunter.
