Workers affiliated to major trade unions such as the Centre of Indian Trade Unions and All India Trade Union Congress on Friday took out a rally as part of May Day celebrations in Puducherry.The rally which began at Balaji Theatre junction culminated at Anna Salai. Leaders who participated included secretary of Communist Party of India A. M. Saleem, secretary of Communist Party of India (Marxist) S. Ramachandran, AITUC general secretary R. Anthony and CITU general secretary Sreenivasan. A public meeting was also held near Swadheshi Mill Complex.
