Track maintenance works begin in Coimbatore; Podanur station to be originating point till May 5
The Southern Railway has started track maintenance between Coimbatore Junction and Podanur Junction from May 1 to May 5, 2026, during daytime hours. The Southern Railway, on May 1, 2026 (Friday), began engineering works on railway tracks between Coimbatore Junction and Podanur Junction. The works will be carried out from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. every day until May 5.Some of the train services that were scheduled to originate from Coimbatore Junction will depart from Podanur Junction. The trains are: Coimbatore-Madurai Express (No.16721 departing at 92.45 p.m. at Podanur Junction), Coimbatore-Shoranur Passenger Train (No. 56603 departing at 4.38 p.m.), Coimbatore-Kannur Express (No. 16608 departing at 2.03 p.m.), and Coimbatore-Hissar Weekly Express (No. 22476 departing at 2.55 p.m. on Saturday).Coimbatore-Jabalpur Special Train (No. 02197) will depart from Podanur at 5.05 p.m. on May 4.
