Canonical has released the fourth snapshot of Ubuntu 26.10, codenamed Stonking Stingray, ahead of the upcoming beta milestone. This release features the Linux 7.2 kernel, GNOME 51 desktop components, and the completion of the transition to Rust Coreutils. The stable version of Ubuntu 26.10 is scheduled for release on October 15, 2026.

Add A Comment The fourth monthly-ish snapshot of Ubuntu 26.10 "Stonking Stingray" is now available for testing and comes ahead of next week's Ubuntu 26.10 beta milestone. While there continues to be the daily ISOs produced of Ubuntu 26.10, Canonical continues with these monthly "snapshots" to help with their release/build automation processes. The Stonking Snapshot 4 was just announced by Canonical's Utkarsh Gupta and given the close proximity to Ubuntu 26.10 beta next week, it will be quite similar to those artifacts.
