Watchdog uncovers £1.8m illegal medicines and steroids network
The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has uncovered a criminal network involved in the illegal supply of steroids and unauthorised prescription medicines worth £1.8 million. Over 130,000 doses of drugs including tamoxifen, finasteride, and modafinil were seized, leading to the conviction of seven men who received a total of more than 21 years in prison. The operation, centred in Bolton, involved the storage and distribution of illegal drugs from a flat above commercial premises, with some defendants pleading guilty to money laundering and conspiracy charges.
