Why do male 2000s singers sound like that?

Idk if anyone else notices this but when listening to 2000s soft rock, all the male singers have this... accent. Some examples I think of are Lifehouse, John Mayer, Creed, Nickelback, Rob Thomas, etc., though I mainly notice it from the lead singer of Lifehouse.
