Farmers in Coimbatore-Tiruppur belt to intensify campaign for Noyyal river remediation by the next government
Farmers in the Coimbatore-Tiruppur belt plan to intensify their campaign for the remediation of the polluted Noyyal river, seeking commitment from the next government. The 158-km river, a tributary of the Cauvery, has deteriorated due to untreated industrial, hospital, and municipal waste. Once historically significant with 32 ancient irrigation tanks, the river now receives little attention despite its ecological and agricultural importance.
