The National Medical Commission (NMC), in its latest notification, has deleted two important provisions related to intake of MBBS students in medical colleges across India. The clause in the Undergraduate Medical Education Regulations, 2023 that “colleges seeking increased number of seats cannot exceed a total of 150 MBBS students from the year 2024-25” shall be deleted.The notification also removed the limit of 100 MBBS seats per 10 lakh population in a State or a Union Territory.
